Celebrating Craft: Ceramic Mugs at Moon Roast

At Moon Roast, we like to bring together local talent, traditional craft and a shared appreciation of handmade products. We have got some exciting new stock of ceramic mugs online and now available in-person to buy at our Roastery.

Vinegar Hill Pottery: Handmade in the New Forest

From their studio in the coastal village of Milford on Sea, the family-run Vinegar Hill Pottery has spent 25 years crafting stoneware with character. Hand-thrown by Dave in his studio, these mugs are made exclusively for Moon Roast and available in three beautiful colours, black, duck egg or white. Each hold 8oz (approx. 236ml) of your favourite hot drink and will be the perfect gift for Christmas.

What makes them ours?

  • Moon Roast branding on the exterior
  • Our little owl hidden inside
  • Variations in shape and glaze that only come from something made by hand

Both Moon Roast and Vinegar Hill Pottery share a commitment to responsible making:

  • Local production reduces miles and supports regional craft.
  • Small-batch creation avoids unnecessary waste.
  • Durable stoneware means using less, for longer.
  • Natural materials keep our environmental footprint lighter.

Choosing handmade pieces is a simple, beautiful way to support sustainable living.

Nkuku: Natural. Ethical. Crafted.

We are also excited to introduce a new collection of handcrafted mugs from Nkuku, a brand built on supporting artisan communities across the world.

Founded in 2003, Nkuku was established on a clear principle: to champion handmade techniques, preserve traditional skills and put ethical production at the centre of everything. Their work is guided by three pillars - Natural. Ethical. Crafted - with a focus on recycled or natural materials and transparent relationships with makers.

The Drop collection

This range is handmade in Vietnam using time-honoured pottery techniques. Each Drop mug is shaped and painted entirely by hand, giving every piece its own subtle variations.

The rich colour forms Nkuku’s signature drop design - calming, tactile and characterful. The generous shape is ideal for a comforting morning pour-over or a flat white, while the curved handle adds both elegance and ease.

Ethical and sustainable by design

Nkuku’s artisans work with natural or recycled materials wherever possible, and the brand maintains fair, transparent supply chains. Their values echo our own belief in supporting thoughtful production and celebrating the stories behind every handmade piece.
