Moon Roast Coffee Roastery

Welcome to Moon Roast Coffee’s roastery, where tradition and innovation meet in the heart of rural Hampshire.

A Family Legacy in Coffee

Moon Roast’s roastery at Chilton Manor Farm is steeped in a family tradition of coffee expertise, passed down through generations.

The Roasting Process

We hand-roast coffee in small batches daily, ensuring peak freshness and quality.

Roasting Machines: Probat and Loring

At Moon Roast, we use both traditional Probat gas-powered roasters and a modern Loring air roaster, combining classic and contemporary roasting methods to achieve the best flavours.

Probat Gas-Powered Roaster

Probat roasters are known for their precision and consistency, using direct flame contact to heat the drum. This traditional method allows our roasters to create deep, complex flavours by caramelising the sugars in the beans. The direct heat interaction produces rich, bold profiles, which are a hallmark of Moon Roast’s coffee.

Loring Air Roaster

The Loring roaster is a state-of-the-art machine that employs a hot-air roasting method, significantly reducing smoke emissions by recycling hot air. This eco-friendly approach results in a cleaner, brighter flavour profile, with precise control over temperature and air circulation ensuring an even roast and enhancing the clarity of flavour notes.

Ethically Sourced, Sustainably Produced

We are committed to sourcing our beans ethically and roasting them sustainably. Our partnerships with coffee farmers ensure we receive only the finest beans, grown with respect for the environment and the farmers.

SALSA Accreditation

We are proud to be SALSA accredited, a recognition that underscores our commitment to maintaining the highest standards of food safety and quality. SALSA (Safe and Local Supplier Approval) accreditation means that we meet rigorous food safety requirements, reassuring our customers that our coffee is produced with meticulous care and attention to detail. As a SALSA-accredited producer, we uphold best practices in all aspects of our operation, from sourcing and roasting to packaging and distribution.
